For this month's review, we got their spinach dip, pork belly bites, and roast beef poutine. The spinach dip (and accompanying fried naan) was absolutely delightful. It is simultaneously the perfect shareable and something I would absolutely be able to finish entirely on my own. The dip was super thick, cheesy, and creamy. The spinach flavour came through just enough to not be overpowered by the cheese, but don't get me wrong, there was PLENTY of cheese. The pork belly bites were fatty, juicy, and smothered in honey. They came with a serving of the Judge’s signature beefsteak fries, perfect for cutting through the grease and the sugar
The poutine was exactly what I was hoping for: rich and salty and so, so filling. The roast beef itself was succulent and flavourful, and the fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The toppings were super generous, with more than enough cheese curds and a hearty slathering of gravy.
Pork Belly Bites A little birdie told me that a new menu is in the works for The Judge, complete with an “Irish spice bag – a drunkard’s dream of fries, chicken, and peppers slathered in Chinese 5 spice. Keep your eye out for that next time you visit, and do make sure you visit, because The Judge has some of the best pub food in the city - but who am I to be the judge of that?
